Purifying apparatus, and related purifying method, comprising a reactor and one or more light sources, wherein the reactor is configured to receive a light irradiation emitted by said one or more light sources and to contain inside a fluid to be purified and at least one catalyst configured to absorb said light irradiation and to activate at least one photocatalysis that removes at least one polluting substance inside the fluid, wherein the purifying apparatus comprises switching means configured to be supplied by at least one power supply apparatus and to drive said one or more light sources in dimming mode according to a dimming duty-cycle tON / Tdim, wherein said one or more light sources are kept on for a switching-on time tow within a dimming period Tdim, where tON ≤ Tdim, and kept off for a switching-off time tOFF, equal to (tdim - TON), wherein the purifying apparatus comprises processing and control means configured to send to said switching means a dimming signal dLED(t), that is time-varying, equal to the instantaneous dimming duty-cycle tON/Tdim according to which said switching means drives said one or more light sources in dimming mode, the purifying apparatus being characterised in that the dimming signal dLED(t) that said processing and control means is configured to send to said switching means has a waveform selected from or equal to a combination of waveforms selected from the group comprising or consisting of: - periodic waveforms, - pseudo-periodic waveforms.
