It is a widespread belief that augmented reality and virtual reality have found an area in the field of education in which to fully unfold their potential. The effectiveness of VR and AR environments in the educational context would be mainly linked to the idea of simulation. The idea of simulation involves a redefinition of the nature of representation; this work deals with the theme of corporeity, or rather embodiment, as a key element in the transition from representation to immersion. In a context in which research in the educational field seems to have re-appropriated the embodied dimension of learning, it seems appropriate to start a reflection, in the didactic-pedagogical context, on the role of the body and body in the virtual or augmented context: when, as happens in the VR and AR environments, the whole body becomes the protagonist of the interaction, the domain of representation gives way to that of embodiment.
