Servizi di raccolta differenziata e creazione di valore socio-economico nella provincia di Latina

The increase of door-to-door rubbish collection appears to be of remarkable importance in terms of sustainable development as it represents the first and fundamental step of the transformation process of waste to resource and also contributes to the reduction emissions into the environment due to traditional waste disposal methods (eg. dumps). The critical factors for the development of this method of collection refer to different kinds of problems that are closely connected: economic, technical-logistic, management, environment and social related. This thought lies at the basis of the present case-study whose objective is to analyse the results achieved in the period 2004-2006 following the Meritocratic Proclamation for the “riciclone” municipalities in the Province of Latina, by creating a comparison with the previous system to highlight the very best environmental, social and economic performance compared with the current one.
