What impact did that thinking have on the political, economic, a nd social decisions of the time? And above all, what will the Church of Leo XIV do? The environment, in the Christian understanding, is part of Creation, toward which human beings have an unlimited responsibility, insofar as they are both within it and outside it. From this perspective, establishing a relationship between principles and rights makes it possible to envision the potential construction of a juridical space grounded in the sharing of theological principles. Abstract
Ten years ago the Encyclical Laudato si’ was promulgated. Today, in a different world – one that has seen a global pandemic and is enduring a war at the heart of Europe – what remains of what Pope Francis called ‘integral ecology’? What impact did that thinking have on the political, economic, a nd social decisions of the time? And above all, what will the Church of Leo XIV do? The environment, in the Christian understanding, is part of Creation, toward which human beings have an unlimited responsibility, insofar as they are both within it and outside it. From this perspective, establishing a relationship between principles and rights makes it possible to envision the potential construction of a juridical space grounded in the sharing of theological principles. In this perspective, Christians – and indeed all human beings – have a specific role in proclaiming an ecological awareness, which is nothing other than the responsibility assumed toward oneself, toward others, and toward creation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
