The continuous digital transformations in the current Onlife society require a continuous change of perspective in society and education and imply that the entire education system is continuously updated and trained to respond effectively and continuously in the implementation of students ‘lifelong learning in all life contexts. Digital innovation is also a great opportunity within the university system, allowing students to improve their formative journeys for the professions in future workplaces with repercussions on those skills helpful to adapt themselves to the changes of society and of the labour market. Universities, in their orientation function to professionalization, play a fundamental role and thanks to the support of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, can optimize educational processes ensuring the personalization of university’s curricula to the needs of labour market. The curricula’s adjustment is related to the highlight of the talents and specificity of each one and this is possible through technologies’ contribution within an authentic evaluation whose tools can provide detailed data on students’ performance and allow a faster, efficient and objective monitoring of the teaching-learning process. Technological innovation also provides the opportunity to enhance student collaboration through collaborative platforms and online group projects that foster positive interdependence and the development of teamwork and problem solving skills. However, the sudden change of the Onlife society and the use of technologies involves many challenges. Among the main ones there is certainly not to compromise the quality of teaching since the targets of the educational system do not change but they need to be updated through a flexibility of contents and with a different approach. This challenge is important to respond adequately to new hybrid learning environments in which it remains a priority to maintain a balance between real reality and the virtual one with the aim of preserving the centrality and essence of the human being.
