In this chapter, we briefly summarize the dynamics of research into pottery among hunter-gatherers. We point out the main themes studied and the methodologies used to outline the current state of research on pottery technology to which the present volume contributes. After outlining the history of this volume, we introduce the topics and questions addressed by its individual chapters.
