The heterogeneous, as well as interesting, building heritage of the Cassino area is, as well known, the result of the whole reconstruction carried out in the second half of the 1940s up to the 1960s following the disastrous war events of the Second World War. In fact, starting from this dramatic event, a stimulating and controversial debate was triggered around the themes of reconstruction, which began immediately after the end of the war and continued through the years of the economic boom, giving rise to a new and different phase of experimentation. Important designers of the time were involved in the reconstruction, one of the authoritative figures who worked for several years in the Cassino area was Giuseppe Nicolosi which experimented with decidedly innovative and singular typological and constructive design solutions. In this context, the accurate experience on the theme of religious architecture which involves Nicolosi himself, between 1946 and 1949, in the design and construction of four churches stands out. The proposed contribution intends to reconstruct the complex and unprecedented design experience of Giuseppe Nicolosi with theme reference of religious architecture in general, and in particular to the works created in the Cassino area for which, thanks to the consultation of the personal archive, it was possible to retrace the design process and construction phases.

Abstract
The proposed contribution intends to reconstruct the complex and unprecedented design experience of Giuseppe Nicolosi with theme reference of religious architecture in general, and in particular to the works created in the Cassino area for which, thanks to the consultation of the personal archive, it was possible to retrace the design process and construction phases.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
