Goals. The present article aims to evaluate, through the analysis of recent literature in the international panorama, the transdiagnostic value of clinical perfectionism and shame, with the specific objective of identifying which clinical disorders are affected by shame, such as by clinical perfectionism, and in which disorders are closely related. Method. The research - which used electronic databases and search engines such as SCOPUS, PubMed/Medline, PsycINFO, Google Scholar - took into consideration the articles published in the last 10 years, selected on the basis of the following criteria: articles that investigate the role of shame and/or perfectionism in some disorders; articles reporting studies on extended samples (N> 100); samples that generally exclude the developmental age and include disorders of adult age (≥ 15 years); meta-analyzes and reviews that include articles in the foreseen time frame. Results. The review highlights how in most studies perfectionism and shame have a transdiagnostic value, as they are related to various clinical disorders, in particular shame is more correlated with depression and eating disorders, perfectionism, as well as with precedents, even with anxiety. Discussion. All the studies included in the review confirmed the transdiagnostic importance of perfectionism and the virgin, underlining how these two variables influence the possible development and maintenance of different psychopathologies. These include depressive symptoms, anxiety, eating behavior disorder, paranoid ideation.

Abstract
