The development of new processes and procedures for communicating metrological data digitally and securely over computer networks is fundamental to the future of the metrology industry and to industry in general. This paper presents an overview of the key findings from the EMPIR project SmartCom which has developed a number of key components for secure data exchange in IoT networks. In particular, this paper presents recent SmartCom outcomes in the areas of Quality Verification and Legal Metrology at the design level and also via example implementations. To put these new outcomes in context, an outline of selected SmartCom outcomes is also provided.

Abstract
The development of new processes and procedures for communicating metrological data digitally and securely over computer networks is fundamental to the future of the metrology industry and to industry in general. This paper presents an overview of the key findings from the EMPIR project SmartCom which has developed a number of key components for secure data exchange in IoT networks. In particular, this paper presents recent SmartCom outcomes in the areas of Quality Verification and Legal Metrology at the design level and also via example implementations. To put these new outcomes in context, an outline of selected SmartCom outcomes is also provided.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
