This paper offers some reflections on the Covid-19 pandemic from the cultural perspective of the ‘Ponte’ by Piero Calamandrei. Particular attention is paid to China, not only because the epidemic outbreak was first detected in that Country, but also because 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Italy and China, started in 1955 when the first Italian cultural delegation, led by the Florentine jurist, visited China. In addition, some of the scenarios that occurred during the pandemic are compared with those described by Calamandrei in a fictional essay, which allows us to reflect on the present and future challenges posed by the coronavirus.
