La Rivoluzione russa e il Modernismo radicale inglese

While a wave of Russomania was in full swing, the outbreak of the October Revolution aroused much interest in Great Britain among the modernist writers who were engaged in the renewal of the arts. Following the relation between Ezra Pound’s poetry and Sergej Ejzenštejn’s cinematic montage this contribution examines how the debate on the Russian Revolution was soon transformed into a search for new meanings in the historical events and ideas that had actually led to the First World War and to the moral failure of Western modernity. In this sense, the Russian Revolution was conceived as a utopian space for transformation which would set in motion new thoughts and ideas, and which through the deconstruction and reconstruction of the received ideas would bring about the political and artistic transformation of the social world.
