The paper introduces a generalised geometrical model capable to reproduce, with the assignment of four parameters, all the different types of the edge Lecce vaults, a system used to build with a natural fascinating sandstone the vaulted ceilings of noble palaces, churches and houses of Salento (southern Italy). Born as modification of Arab and Spanish domes these vaults, authentic pieces of art, are formed by a central dome and four groins, differing each other for their shape customized by builders. The model, defined with geometrical and mathematical terms, gives an ogival shape to the groins, thus enabling to control their junction with the dome. The solution is validated versus two different real case studies surveyed with digital photogrammetry.

Abstract
The solution is validated versus two different real case studies surveyed with digital photogrammetry.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
