The jute and cotton warehouse was one of the first works in reinforced concrete built in Naples complying with the 1907 regulations, designed and contracted by a public authority. This paper deals with the technical rules valid at that time and compares the calculations of the structures in reinforced concrete made by the designer and those reviewed by the specialist company which won the call of construction tender. The paper highlights a noteworthy coincidence between them except for the safety factors that, in the company’s project, have been reduced in order to achieve minor building costs. The design, contracting and testing of the warehouse show a great synergy, for cutting-edge work that is absolutely unimaginable today.
