The article is an overview on the subject of ‘center (or centers) and periphery’ in the history and development of Greek writing, from Hellenistic and Roman age up to the Byzantine time. The different perspectives and guidelines of the issue are explored in a problematic way, in the light of the most recent acquisitions of the scientific literature, in order to outline new interpretations of the problem. Furthermore, the thematic of 'unità' and 'particolarismo' ('unity' and 'regional particularism') is joined to the first one in a specifically paleographic meaning, and in the general perspective of the history of Greek paleography in the last two centuries, in order to verify if the two concepts can enlight each other, by setting out a general heuristic paradigm.

Abstract
The article is an overview on the subject of ‘center (or centers) and periphery’ in the history and development of Greek writing, from Hellenistic and Roman age up to the Byzantine time. The different perspectives and guidelines of the issue are explored in a problematic way, in the light of the most recent acquisitions of the scientific literature, in order to outline new interpretations of the problem. Furthermore, the thematic of 'unità' and 'particolarismo' ('unity' and 'regional particularism') is joined to the first one in a specifically paleographic meaning, and in the general perspective of the history of Greek paleography in the last two centuries, in order to verify if the two concepts can enlight each other, by setting out a general heuristic paradigm.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
