This essay analyses migratory networks as an example of “unplanned order” (F. von Hayek). Migratory networks are complex historical-social phenomena and represent one of the main channels through which immigrants, their families and communities realize the migratory project. These social networks are multicentered and able to act through with the social capital they have. We propose to analyse them through some of the theoretical-methodological itineraries elaborated by social anthropology and network analysis approach.

Abstract

This essay analyses migratory networks as an example of “unplanned order” (F. von Hayek). Migratory networks are complex historical-social phenomena and represent one of the main channels through which immigrants, their families and communities realize the migratory project. These social networks are multicentered and able to act through with the social capital they have. We propose to analyse them through some of the theoretical-methodological itineraries elaborated by social anthropology and network analysis approach.
