The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is a numerical analysis method in which the fluid is represented by the particles interacting with each other. The SPH method is currently being developed and needs to be verified by experimental studies. In this study, water surface profiles of the dam-break experiment over dry bed at initial stages were compared with numerical results. DualSPHysics software was used for the numerical analysis. According to the results, in case of chaotic hydraulic problems such as flood waves and wave front propagation caused by dam collapse, the numerical analysis is concluded to be acceptable and consistent with experimental data.

Abstract
The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is a numerical analysis method in which the fluid is represented by the particles interacting with each other. The SPH method is currently being developed and needs to be verified by experimental studies. In this study, water surface profiles of the dam-break experiment over dry bed at initial stages were compared with numerical results. DualSPHysics software was used for the numerical analysis. According to the results, in case of chaotic hydraulic problems such as flood waves and wave front propagation caused by dam collapse, the numerical analysis is concluded to be acceptable and consistent with experimental data.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
