This work is focused on Eddy Current Tomography of conductive materials in view of defect(s) imaging. In Eddy Current Tomography the main goal is to provide an “image” of the interior of a conducting object by means of low frequency electromagnetic fields. The setting is the same of Eddy Current Testing but the goal is broader. Specifically, other than detecting the presence of a defect and sizing its major dimensions, Eddy Current Tomography attempts to provide an image of a defect or multiple defects in a conducting specimen. Usually, in Eddy Current Testing strong assumptions on the unknown defect(s) are made. For instance, it is commonly assumed that there is only one defect which is perfectly insulating (partially conducting defects are also considered), its shape is prescribed (rectangular, elliptical, …). Aim of Eddy Current Tomography is to overcome these limitations which may be not fulfilled during on-field applications.
