We analyze the theoretical and methodological perspective of two scholars R.G. Collingwood and E. de Martino on the use of oral histories as historical sources. The oral narratives, for these two authors, close to the Italian historicism and in sharp contrast to the prospects offered by the naturalism and positivism in this field, are valuable sources for enlargement of historical knowledge by historical method. Collingwood and de Martino indicate the appropriate methodology to analyze and interpret.
