Contrary to received interpretations, insisting that Lamarck's evolutionary views were forgotten if not derided during the period 1810-1840, it is argued that the opposite is true. Systematic perusal of a wide range of sources (periodicals, encyclopaedias and dictionaries, correspondences) illustrates the interest towards Lamarck's evolutionary theories in circles of medical writers, religious commentators and literary celebrities.

Abstract
Contrary to received interpretations, insisting that Lamarck's evolutionary views were forgotten if not derided during the period 1810-1840, it is argued that the opposite is true. Systematic perusal of a wide range of sources (periodicals, encyclopaedias and dictionaries, correspondences) illustrates the interest towards Lamarck's evolutionary theories in circles of medical writers, religious commentators and literary celebrities.File in questo prodotto:
