The numerical integration of models describing hydrodynamic processes with sediment transport and bed evolution may encounter difficulties due to the complexity of the system eigenstructure, whose knowledge is required by most upwind schemes. Even methods which perform an approximate resolution of the Riemann problem require at least the calculation of the wave celerities, for which only an estimation of the correct values is often possible. In this work, the sensitivity of three different schemes, namely HLL, GFORCE and GMUSTA, to an error in the celerity estimation is investigated on simple dam-break tests.

Abstract
The numerical integration of models describing hydrodynamic processes with sediment transport and bed evolution may encounter difficulties due to the complexity of the system eigenstructure, whose knowledge is required by most upwind schemes. Even methods which perform an approximate resolution of the Riemann problem require at least the calculation of the wave celerities, for which only an estimation of the correct values is often possible. In this work, the sensitivity of three different schemes, namely HLL, GFORCE and GMUSTA, to an error in the celerity estimation is investigated on simple dam-break tests.File in questo prodotto:
