In PEMFC modelling, several electrochemical models are available which focus on the analysis of the steady state behaviour to define and choose the optimal set of operating conditions. However, most of these models are not able to describe the transient phenomena needed to understand the PEMFC dynamic response and to define the appropriate control strategies. In this paper a dynamic model for a PEM fuel cell system is presented. The proposed model, although simplified and containing some empirical equations, allows to predict the dynamic behaviour of PEMFC under different fuelling conditions, such as pure hydrogen and reformate gas. The developed model is suitable for determining control strategy that will ensure efficient and reliable operations of a PEM fuel cell stack for distributed power generation and/or cogeneration system.

Abstract
In PEMFC modelling, several electrochemical models are available which focus on the analysis of the steady state behaviour to define and choose the optimal set of operating conditions. However, most of these models are not able to describe the transient phenomena needed to understand the PEMFC dynamic response and to define the appropriate control strategies. In this paper a dynamic model for a PEM fuel cell system is presented. The proposed model, although simplified and containing some empirical equations, allows to predict the dynamic behaviour of PEMFC under different fuelling conditions, such as pure hydrogen and reformate gas. The developed model is suitable for determining control strategy that will ensure efficient and reliable operations of a PEM fuel cell stack for distributed power generation and/or cogeneration system.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
