Tibor Scitovsky made fundamental contributions across many fields of economics: the new welfare economics of the 1940s, international trade and growth, monopoly power and competition. Yet, as he would have been the first to acknowledge, others have taken most of these sub-fields in new and much more technically-driven directions, inevitably superseding his contributions. This is not the case with what must be viewed as his principal legacy: to have explored entirely new areas in human wellbeing, in particular transforming the economic understanding of how to sustain satisfaction, basically by drawing on other social disciplines.

Abstract
Tibor Scitovsky made fundamental contributions across many fields of economics: the new welfare economics of the 1940s, international trade and growth, monopoly power and competition. Yet, as he would have been the first to acknowledge, others have taken most of these sub-fields in new and much more technically-driven directions, inevitably superseding his contributions. This is not the case with what must be viewed as his principal legacy: to have explored entirely new areas in human wellbeing, in particular transforming the economic understanding of how to sustain satisfaction, basically by drawing on other social disciplines.File in questo prodotto:
