Cascaded converters can be used in electric vehicles in order to manage more than one energy sources. If fuel cell and supercapacitors are considered, a suitable control algorithm has to be implemented, in order to optimally manage power and energy flows from the two sources. In this paper, the cascaded inverter control algorithm, already presented by the same authors in a previous paper, is further improved by means of a variable frequency modulation technique. The aim is to limit the overall converter power losses when supercapacitor is activated during electric vehicle high power requests.

Abstract
Cascaded converters can be used in electric vehicles in order to manage more than one energy sources. If fuel cell and supercapacitors are considered, a suitable control algorithm has to be implemented, in order to optimally manage power and energy flows from the two sources. In this paper, the cascaded inverter control algorithm, already presented by the same authors in a previous paper, is further improved by means of a variable frequency modulation technique. The aim is to limit the overall converter power losses when supercapacitor is activated during electric vehicle high power requests.File in questo prodotto:
