Abstract
In the medieval Christianity from Renovatio imperii to the reform it has a new social body, the Ecclesia Christi, that embracing the entire Christian community and that, mainly governed by the emperor in the Carolingian period and that of Otoni, which is considered governed as unum caput by the Pope. It is certain that the weakening of the feudal imperial unity with the new regna superiorem non recognoscentem, necessitated the strengthening of the Pope as head of Christianity unique and supreme. This is justified in claiming that imperium habet a papa imperium, or for a human reason (the donation of Constantine and the translatio imperii of Gregory IX), or for a divine (the renunciation of Constantine to an illegitimate authority). It is for this reason that Pope succedit imperio vacante.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
