In this research work an hybrid metal-foam/composite sample with axisymmetric geometry has been manufactured: the sample is composed by a cylindrical core in metal foam and an outer layer in composite material, manufactured by filament winding technology. The goal of this paper is to estimate the improvement of the hybrid sample characteristics compared to the sum of the single constituents (metal foam cylinder and composite material tube). Abstract

This work is part of scientific studies that have the wider aim of producing components for industrial applications such as security systems for the automotive field (e.g. anti-intrusion bars).
