A thermodynamic analysis of hydrogen production from ethanol has been carried out with respect to proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications. Two ethanol reforming processors, steam reforming and partial oxidation reforming with water gas shift and CO preferential oxidation have been considered and the effects of operating parameters on hydrogen yield have been examined. Optimal operating conditions of steam reforming and partial oxidation processors have been determined assuming an upper limit for the preheat temperature of the feed and, on the basis of energy balance, the comparison of two reforming processes have been investigated.

Abstract
A thermodynamic analysis of hydrogen production from ethanol has been carried out with respect to proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications. Two ethanol reforming processors, steam reforming and partial oxidation reforming with water gas shift and CO preferential oxidation have been considered and the effects of operating parameters on hydrogen yield have been examined. Optimal operating conditions of steam reforming and partial oxidation processors have been determined assuming an upper limit for the preheat temperature of the feed and, on the basis of energy balance, the comparison of two reforming processes have been investigated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
