Theophanes’ Archaizing Style in a Manuscript with the Palaiologoi Monogram · This article examines the manuscripts copied by the scribe Theophanes (RGK I, nr. 137; II, nr. 181), who was mainly active in the second quarter of the fourteenth century. Among his works is Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Conventi Soppressi, B.i.1214, a collection of the lives of holy women, whose incipit is embellished with the monogram of the Palaiologoi dynasty. On this basis, the manuscript is here attributed to the celebrations in honour of the late Andronicus II Palaiologos, and Theophanes’ activity is placed within the monastery of the Panaghia Hodegetria in Constantinople. The article concludes with a brief note of a newly identified manuscript by the basilikos notarios George Bullotes.
