The Poetry and Civic Engagement of Alfonso Gatto: 1943–1947. Editorial and Journalistic Activity and the Critical Edition of Il capo sulla neve. Liriche della Resistenza. The central focus of this thesis is the first collection of civic poetry by Alfonso Gatto, Il capo sulla neve. Liriche della Resistenza (Quaderni di «Milano-sera», 1947). The study begins by examining Gatto’s theoretical prose writings in order to identify elements of his poetics that justify his turn toward a form of poetry marked by civic and political commitment. It then investigates the relationship between biography and poetry, as well as between Gatto’s roles as reporter and journalist and as poet during the four-year period 1944–1947, when these poems were composed. Finally, the thesis analyzes and reconstructs the genesis of the collection, providing a critical edition through which Gatto’s poetic method and compositional practices are brought to light.

Abstract
Finally, the thesis analyzes and reconstructs the genesis of the collection, providing a critical edition through which Gatto’s poetic method and compositional practices are brought to light.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
