This article provides a critical update on the definitions of "littera beneventana" and "littera langobarda", tracing the historical evolution of these terms in scholarly literature and their connection to the cultural sphere of Langobardia minor. A specific focus is placed on the "nota langobarda," exploring the relationship between textual script and the unique musical notation of this region. Drawing on the latest research and findings from the BMB project, the study offers fresh insights into the chronology and provenance of surviving witnesses of the these definitions.
