Vat. gr. 2330 is an Italo-Greek Tetraevangelion examinedin this article through a scientific and multidisciplinaryapproach, with the aim of situating it within the technical and bibliological context of New Testament manuscript production in Byzantine southern Italy. The study offers a new contribution to the dating of the codex, to the characterization of its structure and the scripts employed in its transcription, as well as to the analysis of its decoration. Particular attention is devoted to the pendrawn portraits of the evangelists, which can be confidently regarded as later additions to the original manuscript. On the basis of the available evidence, we suggest that the codex originated in a region between Byzantine Calabria and eastern Sicily, most likely between the late 11th and the early 12th century.

Abstract
Vat. On the basis of the available evidence, we suggest that the codex originated in a region between Byzantine Calabria and eastern Sicily, most likely between the late 11th and the early 12th century.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
