Ischia, the largest island in the Gulf of Naples, is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is characterized by a fragile territorial and landscape system. This fragility— combined with by the effects of climate change—stems from the interwoven presence of seismic, hydrogeological and wildfire risks. Within this context, the ongoing FIRE (wildFire-related landslide scenarIos for territorial planning and Risk managemEnt) research project aims to develop multi-criteria risk scenarios that integrate climatic variables, ecosystem changes, landscape dynamics and wildfire propagation models. Through the case study of Ischia, this paper explores the role of landscape architecture in fostering interdisciplinary dialogue around risk scenario modelling. It challenges technocratic and sector-specific approaches to risk mitigation and contributes to the disciplinary discourse by proposing fire not only as a destructive force but also as a generative agent for imagining new forms of pyro-landscapes.
