In order to decrease energy consumption in existing building stock, many measures are considered. Among these, one of the more promising is making the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) more integrated and effective at enhancing energy savings, while simultaneously avoiding unnecessary administrative burden. However, Member States in EU are facing common challenges in this process. That is why, the EU-funded LIFE project "tunES"addresses these challenges in making the EPC and the SRI more integrated and effective. This paper shows good practice related to methods used by National Energy Agencies from 7 EU countries in implementing and initiating the legislative and regulatory actions related to policy design, in order to exploit the full potential of EPC and SRI. The results of the analysis of surveys conducted in 7 EU member states are presented, which show that there are needs to upgrade the EPC, connected databases and tools as well as properly develop and deploy SRI.
