This paper presents the activities aimed at implementing a pilot case for the application of the OVEST (Optimal Verification of Smart Tunnels) model on a road tunnel currently in service in Italy. OVEST models the lighting systems (LSs) of road tunnels in the plane of energy consumption and lighting performance. The model was developed in cooperation with ANAS SpA, the largest Italian road management company. The objectives of the pilot case are manifold: to validate the effectiveness of OVEST in providing field data useful for reducing electric energy consumption, ensuring driving safety, and guiding maintenance management decisions. Additionally, the digital model of the lighting system can be validated using field data. The steps followed to implement the pilot case are detailed, starting from the selection of a tunnel in service to the acquisition and characterization of luminance sensors. The measurement campaign to validate and calibrate the tunnel's digital twin and the design of software dedicated to the remote control of the sensors inside the tunnel are also described.

Abstract
The measurement campaign to validate and calibrate the tunnel's digital twin and the design of software dedicated to the remote control of the sensors inside the tunnel are also described.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
