The industrial district of the Media Liri Valley, located in the lower Lazio, was the scene of an evolutionary process that took place between the 18th and 19th centuries. The territories, endowed with geomorphological peculiarities that since the eighteenth century made this area particularly attractive and suit-able for carrying out activities of an industrial nature, experienced a gradual and heterogeneous development, which culminated in a local continuation of the massive European industrial revolution. In fact, with the introduction of hydraulic mills and the exploitation of water as energy, it is due to the river the process of transformation, albeit slow, of these places from agricultural to pre-industrial society that will lead, in the nineteenth century, to the construc-tion of the numerous factories, such as paper mills, wool mills and silk mills, which will condition the urban conformation of many urban centers. This contribution aims to retrace some aspects of the complex event linked to industrial development in the Liri Valley, through the analysis of carto-graphic representations and paradigmatic buildings, with reference also to the numerous professional figures involved in the project of progressive industri-alisation of the area. At the same time providing food for thought for the re-covery and valorisation of the numerous artefacts still existing in the area. Abstract
In order to establish a functional network, respecting the principles of protection of the industrial archaeological heritage.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
