Abstract
The importance of the work carried out by Alfred and his circle towards the end of the ninth century may be appreciated through the considerable number of essays published not only in recent times and specifically devoted to the question of authorship. In these pages we intend to reconsider the role actually played by the members of the Alfredian entourage, Grimbald of St. Bertin and his colleagues, and how they may have influenced the material, cultural and linguistic conditions underlying translation procedures, the approach to sources and the consistency of the corpus of texts to be rendered into Old English.File in questo prodotto:
