The paper presents a generalized transmission line model to describe the high-frequency propagation of differential- and common-mode currents along interconnects. The model is derived from a full-wave formulation and extends the range of validity of the standard transmission line model. Here we address the problem of mode conversion occurring when asymmetric interconnects at high operating frequencies are considered. The numerical simulations of such a model agree satisfactorily to those obtained by a full-wave numerical 3D code.

Abstract

The paper presents a generalized transmission line model to describe the high-frequency propagation of differential- and common-mode currents along interconnects. The model is derived from a full-wave formulation and extends the range of validity of the standard transmission line model. Here we address the problem of mode conversion occurring when asymmetric interconnects at high operating frequencies are considered. The numerical simulations of such a model agree satisfactorily to those obtained by a full-wave numerical 3D code.
